Yellowwood-1.5"B

American Yellowwood (Cladrastis kentukea) is a beautiful native shade tree featuring graceful, spreading branches, lush green compound foliage that turns brilliant golden-yellow in autumn, and spectacular hanging clusters of fragrant, white, wisteria-like flowers in late spring to early summer. Thriving in full sun to partial shade with fertile, well-drained soil and moderate moisture, this elegant tree is an excellent choice for specimen plantings, spacious lawns, and residential landscapes throughout central Illinois. American Yellowwood offers excellent cold hardiness, attracts bees and other pollinators, and provides outstanding seasonal beauty with its smooth gray bark and graceful canopy, although its impressive floral displays may be more abundant in some years than others.
