Grass-Sedge Carex Sprengelii 1C

This is one of the showiest and most important sedges of both upland and moist woodlands in the Upper Midwest and New England. Numerous pendulant seedheads rise on long stems from the greenish-yellow clumps. Non-rhizomatous it is well behaved and makes a valuable garden companion. Although naturally occurring in woodlands it thrives in rich soil in full sun where the foliage will often take on an attractive chartreuse color.
