These deciduous usually thorny shrubs have siffly erect or trailing stems (canes). Height and spread controlled with pruning and training. Productive life about 20 years. Flowers are formed by clusters of single white or pinkish rose-like blossoms that open after leaves. Fruit grows as 1-2 black or red edible fruits borne on second years canes.
