Dr. Seuss Japanese Maple (Acer palmatum 'Dr. Seuss') is a distinctive dwarf ornamental tree featuring unusual, narrow, deeply lobed green leaves with lighter green variegation, gently twisting foliage, and beautiful yellow-to-orange autumn color. Thriving in morning sun to partial shade with moist, well-drained, slightly acidic soil, this slow-growing Japanese maple is an excellent choice for protected specimen plantings, Japanese-inspired gardens, and small landscape spaces in central Illinois. Dr. Seuss Japanese Maple offers a whimsical, compact growth habit and exceptional foliage interest, although its reported Zone 6 hardiness makes winter protection and a sheltered planting location especially important in our region.
