Katsura-Tree 15C

Katsura Tree (Cercidiphyllum japonicum) is a beautiful deciduous shade tree featuring delicate, heart-shaped leaves that emerge reddish-purple in spring, mature to soft blue-green in summer, and transform into brilliant shades of golden-yellow, orange, and apricot in autumn, often releasing a delightful caramel-like fragrance as they fall. Thriving in full sun to partial shade with fertile, moist, well-drained soil, this graceful tree is an excellent choice for specimen plantings, spacious lawns, and protected residential landscapes throughout central Illinois. Katsura Tree offers excellent cold hardiness, an elegant rounded canopy, and spectacular seasonal color, although consistent moisture and protection from prolonged summer drought are important for maintaining healthy foliage and preventing leaf scorch.
