Fothergilla-Mount Airy 3C

Mt. Airy Fothergilla (Fothergilla × intermedia 'Mount Airy') is a beautiful deciduous shrub featuring fragrant, creamy-white, bottlebrush-like flowers in mid to late spring, complemented by attractive blue-green foliage that transforms into brilliant shades of yellow, orange, and scarlet-red in autumn. Thriving in full sun to partial shade with moist, well-drained, acidic soil rich in organic matter, this naturally rounded shrub is an excellent choice for woodland gardens, foundation plantings, mixed borders, and landscape accents throughout central Illinois. Mt. Airy Fothergilla offers excellent cold hardiness, attracts spring pollinators, and provides outstanding multi-season interest with minimal pruning, making it a wonderful addition to landscapes where its preference for acidic soil can be accommodated.
