Dogwood-Scarlet Fire 7C

Scarlet Fire® Kousa Dogwood (Cornus kousa 'Rutpink') is a spectacular ornamental tree featuring abundant, deep rosy-pink to fuchsia-red floral bracts in late spring to early summer, complemented by rich green foliage that develops beautiful reddish-purple tones in autumn and a graceful, spreading growth habit. Thriving in full sun to partial shade with organically rich, moist, well-drained, slightly acidic soil, this stunning flowering tree is an excellent choice for specimen plantings, front yards, and protected landscape locations throughout central Illinois. Scarlet Fire® Kousa Dogwood offers excellent resistance to dogwood anthracnose, attractive raspberry-like fruits that appeal to wildlife, and exceptional seasonal color, although protection from harsh winter winds and extreme summer drought is beneficial for maintaining its beauty in our region.
