Yoshino Flowering Cherry (Prunus × yedoensis) is a beautiful ornamental tree featuring an abundance of delicate, pale pink buds that open into fragrant, nearly white blossoms in early to mid-spring, followed by fresh green foliage that turns golden-yellow to bronze in autumn and a graceful, broadly spreading canopy. Thriving in full sun with fertile, well-drained soil and moderate moisture, this elegant flowering tree is an excellent choice for specimen plantings, spacious front yards, and ornamental landscapes throughout central Illinois, particularly in locations protected from harsh winter winds. Yoshino Flowering Cherry attracts early-season pollinators and provides a breathtaking spring floral display, although its relatively short lifespan and susceptibility to common cherry pests and diseases make proper care and careful site selection important for long-term success.
