Aspen-Quaking 15C

Quaking Aspen (Populus tremuloides) is a graceful native deciduous tree featuring distinctive rounded green leaves that flutter and shimmer in the slightest breeze, smooth pale gray to white bark, and brilliant golden-yellow fall color. Thriving in full sun with moist, well-drained soil, this fast-growing tree is best suited for spacious, naturalized landscapes in central Illinois, where protection from excessive summer heat and drought is beneficial. Quaking Aspen provides valuable wildlife habitat, beautiful seasonal interest, and a striking natural appearance, although its spreading root suckers, relatively short lifespan, and susceptibility to heat-related stress make it better suited for large, open areas than small residential yards.
