Great Angelica is a large, dramatic plant reaching between three and eight feet. Its coarse foliage clusters around the base. It sends up eight foot flower stalks that explode in May with beautiful spherical flowers that stand out in the garden. Found in moist prairie to savanna conditions, where it associates with Marsh Marigold, Great Angelica is one of the host species for swallowtail butterflies.
